I've got this good buddy
of mine... He's a great guy, but he used to be a couch potato of the slowest caliber. If you looked up 'sloth' in the bible, you'd probably find an engraving of his face. Shit, geologists could have studied his movements as a reference for continental drift. Then his wife had a kid...
Now, Alaric will climb mountains of razor-sharp rocks and cross oceans of burning acid with the strength and the courage of a barbarian warrior just to see his little girl smile. Alaric's willingness to change inspired me beyond words.

GOOD MORNING!
ReplyDeleteyep. love will give magic power to people, haha...
...heard "surfin´ usa" in my "inner ear", when i´ve seen the picture... ;o)
have a nice day!
haha! the floor does sort of look like a surf-board.
ReplyDeleteyou too, my friend!
Awesome story :)
ReplyDeleteIf only every parent was so inspired by their kids!
From sloth to Korgoth of Barbaria? Nice
ReplyDeleteLaury - thanks. that's very true. there should be some kind of aptitude test to see how good a parent certain people can be.
ReplyDeleteTRGB - Korgoth of Barbaria? lol! nothing like a loved child to motivate a person.
Very inspiring story!
ReplyDeleteI hope to have a healthy child when I do get married and will do everything to be a good parent.
thanks dude.
ReplyDeletewith love and a bit of self-sacrifice i'm sure that anyone has the potential to be a great parent.
Our children bring the best out of us... Or even the things we love the most can do that.
ReplyDeletei agree with you, Kat.
ReplyDeletemy cat, for example, taught me a lot. we just need to embrace those sparks the lead to proper change.
This is a great post. Does he have powers like Moses? Haha!
ReplyDeleteI love the drawing with the bones coming out of the blue. It took a while to realize that that was a mountain in the background.
ReplyDeleteKids are powerful, since our animal brains only want to propagate the species.
Haha, my cat did, too :-D
ReplyDeleteNietzsche - thanks. it's not magical powers that part the waters, it's the sheer willpower that comes from being a good dad.
ReplyDeleteJorg - thanks. it's the bones of all the shitty parents. i think the barbarians tapped better than the romans into that animal brain of ours. that's why i used the concept in this story.
Kat - i'm sure, those little guys can really change us :)
Gabriel - If you've never seen korgoth of Barbaria, you really should, it was a pilot for a cartoon series that never took off.
ReplyDeleteit's on youtube
Love the way you've presented it...:) The girl could hold her head high with pride...
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful and inspiring! :o)
ReplyDeleteTRGB - thanks man. i'll be sure to give it a look.
ReplyDeleteBasil - long time, buddy. thanks and i hope everything's great with you. that she is :)
Riotbreather - thanks.
That's a strong image. It's great to be reminded of how we can change into someone better.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a truly good father. I'm hoping a friend of mine becomes like this former sloth one day.
ReplyDeleteI just love how all the crappy parents were burned in the acid. Lol. Really great stuff.
ReplyDeleteJay - thank you. yeah, there are people who do that to us.
ReplyDeleteSikzak - he is. maybe your friend just needs a little push. good luck to him/her.
Melissa - thanks.
