The Connected

Funny how we humans connect...
They say 'friends are the family we can choose'. Do we really choose? Or does life just smack us together like random atoms that under the right conditions connect? There was a group of people who didn't know each other, but found themselves on the same crosswalk at the same time:
Bruno + Arseny + Elin + Sergio + Shelly
Bruno was distracted by a worrying email when the sign changed. A speeding truck missed him by an inch and ended up crashing into a jewelry store. Luckily, no one was hurt, but the resulting apparatus of law enforcement and local news interviews connected those crosswalk strangers forever. The accident and the fact that they all play the same online game were just the right conditions to keep those 5 stray atoms connected in a friendship that lasts to this very day. Life, rather than choice, connected them...

If I could choose, all my blog friends would retain their uniqueness, but live inside a 15km radius, so we could go grab a drink every once in a while. Cheers!

  1. I think that even though life puts certain people in our path, we ultimately choose who our friends are.

  2. that's true, but they come into your life and then you choose. it's not an active choice.

  3. I like how the fire or electricity is connecting the crosswalk strangers. I love my friends and they chose me as much as I chose them.

  5. If I could choose all my friends would be rich and nice enough to share their good fortune with me! :D

  9. If worm holes existed, or if we found a way to transport ourselves to other locations on earth as easy as stepping through a door, our relations would benefit, for sure.

  10. I had to go to court in a big city in the south for not having insurance on my car once. I plead guilty and got a fine and then had to go get fingerprinted and fill out paperwork.

My passion at that time was making continuous loop wire bracelets, anklets, and especially necklaces that were so stunning! I LOVED and still want to get back into working with pure silver wire.

    When I went to get fingerprinted for my crime of nonconformity I ran into a problem;

The lady that was trying to fingerprint me was cute, sure, but she was crying her eyes out!

I didn't really know how to react while she was fingerprinting me, I asked her if she was ok and she said "No!" She just would not stop crying.

In my front right pocket I had a naked jewel. An faceted amethyst heart of such rich, dark and flawless beauty that I had been carrying it around as a trophy that week, something to look at refracting the naked sunlight, then my lasers at night. It was to go into my latest necklace, Moonbreeze as a the hanging pendant.

I reached into my pocket and retrieved the jewel, then I slipped it into her hand as we finished up and I was able to slip out the door and escape. I said the only thing that came to mind at the time.

"You deserve it much more than I do."

Nietzsche - cool. can't wait to see it.

Jorg - indeed. not only that, we could eradicate traffic accidents. i can only phantom the changes that would bring.

David - that was mighty nice of you. i'm a sucker for girls in tears, too. behind every corner, there's always an unexpected opportunity to connect with people.
