One of his classmates told me that even before the good-grade drugs, Billy was an incredibly bright student. A story was spread about how he tried to read a whole encyclopedia in just one sitting after taking a handful of pills and that the exertion had burned out his brain. Probably bullshit, but who knows? What we do know, is that Billy's mind became scattered with insanely random thoughts, thoughts that ran faster than his body
and soul could handle. Like most people who self-medicate, I imagine Billy tried to find a solution for this. Maybe he tried trapping all those thoughts in a small room, trying to manage them, but I guess the room just wasn't small enough. Now, Billy spends his days in a psychiatric hospital, praying that the rubber room he's locked in is small enough to keep his mind together.
Haha, I felt the same sometimes , but taking pills, no no... :c
ReplyDeleteReally great job! :3
I've felt like this too. Alcohol and a good nights sleep is what keep me together ;) Kick-ass illustration!
ReplyDeletereminds me to the cube-movies. ;o)
ReplyDeleteJudka - yeah, i get the feeling too, sometimes. i think its common, the origins and intensity of it is what varies. thanks
ReplyDeleteNietzsche - thanks. lucky man, hope that formula keeps working for you.
Octapolis - i love the first two movies; hated Cube Zero. there probably was a subconscious influence there.
Such a tragic fate, caused by his own hand. The image is very graphic.
ReplyDeleteyou can't really blame a guy for using good-grade drugs. pressure for good grades can be lethal.
ReplyDeletethis is gross.
ReplyDeletenot everything in life is pretty.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the Federal Gov. ...my IQ is "well over 150" as they told me...My mind is "scattered with insanely random thoughts," thoughts that run through it too quickly for me to grasp them all bouncing from topic to topic...little if any order to the mess ...I am already mostly insane so the chaotic jumble that is my mind I accept... just not "holding things together" very well lately... Oh today is the first Birthday of the "Crypt"
ReplyDelete.....the Doctor
like i said previously, the feeling's pretty common, the origins and intensity are what vary. i'm sorry things haven't been going well. save me a piece of cake, Doc.
ReplyDeleteLoving the gore and background story.
ReplyDeleteAs you said; life isn't always pretty
The blue blood is a nice change too.
Somehow reminds me of the old shaman search for ascension by taking drugs (such as toxic berries aso). The room must be small to keep his mind together....Sound as if it would spread troughout the universe if the room doesn´t. Maybe that´s some sort of ascension? Who knows...
ReplyDeleteI´m not supporting any kind of drug abuse by the way - just to make clear.
I don't see it as anything spiritual at all. Just fried neural pathways, clogged neurological synapses that fire off like Gatling Guns, or any myriad chemical imbalances (some permanent rewires too) that drugs can cause to the brain.
ReplyDeleteI've learned that when one goes against nature then we suffer for it. So that means that everyone is pretty much screwed.
you´re right... cube zero was not so good. i think, part one was the best, most innovative, most surprising. like all part ones... ;o)
ReplyDeleteMind Blowing illustration.Poor lad couldn't handle the pressure...
ReplyDelete@David
ReplyDeleteYes, this case IS not spiritual. You are right. I was just leading over to the native people of some continents who are still taking drugs out of the believe they will ascend and meet their gods. Humans did such things ever since they discovered the intoxicating effect of some plants. Yes, the guy in Gabriels story is a poor one and couldn´t take it that his mind collapsed. But there are still people out there searching for a trip like this to meet their god... it´s crazy because what we all read here is the truth what really happens with you. Mankind is strange.
@Kat
ReplyDeleteThe universe as a whole is a strange place. I've been contemplating daily on the nature of reality for years. And of course I've tried psychedelic and other drugs in my searching. I have never learned anything permanent from anything drug induced. What I am into now is meditation, I've been into some trippy stuff lately. :)
I've started with first things first. What is the nature of reality? That should be easy shouldn't it? lol!
Laury - thank you for your words. not everything is roses and kittens.
ReplyDeleteOctapolis - you right. i thought the 2nd had an amazing idea, the hypercube, but the 1st one is the best. no doubt.
Basil - thanks a lot. pressure from parents, teachers, and peers can be brutal.
Kat - i can understand what you mean. People like Jim Morrison from The Doors, Aldous Huxley, William Blake, etc always spoke of tearing down the walls or opening up the doors of perception. Its not the case in this story, as you said, but i can see how the tight room would inspire such a thought. maybe something for a next post, i hope to meet a shaman or something close soon.
ReplyDeleteDavid - you're right about the universe and i tend to think that everything is neurological, but that doesn't mean their can't be some form of awakening. personally, leading a life like Terrence Mckenna or Hunter S. Thompson would destroy me, i just don't have the physiology for it, but i have experienced some things. Were they things i could find out for myself? yes, but who knows how or when i would come to those conclusions by myself. i can't deny i had a little help. meditation is something relatively new to me, but i've began to feel its effects and i consider it to be even better. however we're all different and these names i've mentioned have had some big findings thanks to drugs. each person has different experiences.
Poor Billy. Maybe he should have had some tea.
ReplyDeleteI've been going through some changes about how I think. Fundamental changes.
ReplyDeleteThe nature of reality is a hard topic to discuss. It sometimes negates beliefs that have been fostered into gullibles for millennium. Big bad god(S) are up there! Watch out!! Don't Sin!!!
A jealous king that wants his people to raze and destroy the unbelievers of him. Whatever the truth is, the three major religions ain't it.
So I offer this...
There is a creator. I am an amateur astronomer and it is the only thing that makes sense in the real workings of things.
I will never follow the lies that religions offer. They have made the creator into a jealous murdering king shit that demands worship - what the fuck! The creator is not human and your thoughts are not the creators!
Jorg - as long as nobody spiked the tea with Adderall or Raitilin.
ReplyDeleteDavid - you're right about the religious bullshit.
if there is a creator, i highly doubt that a being at least 14.6 billion years old would adopt the mentality of humans who have only been here for a blink of an eye.
AMEN. ;)
