The Lost Anarchist

Many years ago, before the internet, I met an anarcho-activist called Felix. I don't remember how we met, but he had a store that sold old-school punk albums, thought-provoking t-shirts and books on political philosophy. The store was very far from where I lived, so we mostly spoke on the phone. Whenever I bought stuff from him, he would send it through snail mail, always accompanied by free pamphlets and booklets on current ideologies and movements. One day, Felix told me he was closing the store due to a lack of clients. This was sad news...
Over the years, I eventually lost his phone number and most of the stuff he gave me. The fucking internet came too late... With no last name, no email, and no social network page, all that's left are the memories of our talks. And with all the political turmoil going on in the world right now, I sure wish I still had access to his invaluable knowledge.
Maybe Felix has changed his ways, maybe he's accepted the world, maybe he's burned all his material and is now working at some boring office... I doubt it. I'm pretty sure the bastard's still out there with his fists in the air, shouting for what is right. We need people like Felix, protesting against what is wrong and inspiring new ways of making the world a better place.

  2. I do Not like the Government... Nor do I care much for the Politicians and their Self-centered political decisions done to appease their "backers"... politics in this country are ALL motivated by their love of "power" and their greed for the almighty dollar....
Sorry that you lost contact with your friend... I would have liked to hear some of his thoughts on the "politics" of the American Gov..
Ours is a capitalistic system with elements of a democracy .... Our vote for President is called the "popular vote" but the "Electoral Board" are the ones who actually decide who will be President... they do this because the general public is not well knoledged on the policies and other aspects of the candidates and their stance on the issues of our country... And Small Town Politics are even worse... all in all, the system in place can be very oppressive... This country is Not as "free" as they would have you believe...

  3. Octapolis - sometimes, it seems like it has been with me forever, but i still remember that it hasn't. the first time i ever touched the internet was in 1994, but it would be another 10 or 12 years until I really got my hooks around it.

Dr. Theda - i would very much like to know his opinions, as well. it was through him that i learned about the political prisoners in America, the Chiapas movement in Mexico, many of the crimes committed by the Roman Church, and many other injustices. Of course, I could google all these things, but the sources are shady and this is a guy I trusted.
I may not live their at the moment, but I know all about America's 'freedom' and the exploitative foreign policies it has practiced over the last decades. Corruption is everywhere and the dissident voices are usually harshly hushed.

  4. That is true and The Gov. Cannot get away with being too "heavy handed" on those who do speak out against our political issues... Thanks for hearing out this one American ( and Southern Gentleman ) I was just going over some others statements over their "dissatisfaction" with Gov. practices... mostly on a "local" level... A great day to all of your viewers... I do not normally get in to "Politics" But I do keep up with issues when I learn of "troubles"... Like the New version of CAS (Copyright Alert System") which could shut down a good part of the Inter-net (including the "Crypt"...)

  5. i mostly see politics as a grey ugly world. philosophically, it can be pretty interesting, but in practical terms, it's an ugly depressing circus. i'm sure that in a few years, the internet will be restricted to an unacceptable degree. after all, 'they' do control everything else.

  7. I hope your friend hasn't burned anything. We need free-thinkers if we're ever going to get this planet back on track.

  8. this is one of the few guys i actually trust when it comes to this stuff. there are many out there who exploit good honest causes merely to further their own agendas. i can't stand that crap.

  9. I have no "agenda" ...
... but That is all for the best...
in more desperate times , We may arrive at one though... that could be rather "bad" for many people... So I just sit here and do nothing

  10. they say destruction can be a form of creation. obviously, i don't condone violence, but some forms of 'fighting back' may do more good than harm.

Violence is not good, dear friend...only the words and uncorrupted politicals can change the world...
Felix?...perhaps he's now a father who fights for a better world, working and learning his sons the right way...
    Hugs
    W.
